Photographer Sam Haskins and designer Tommy Hilfiger teamed up to publish a pretty cool photo book which is a restropective of five decades of his work. Its called Fashion Etcetera: The Tommy Hilfiger Special Edition. Sam Haskins might not be a common name to you, but in he was quite the rebel and risk taker back in the day. He inspired Tom Munro's and Arianne Philips Madonna photo shoot a few years ago, and has been knocked off so much in the last decade.
I bumped into a friend, Christian a few days ago who told me about an event at Milk Studios last night and we quickly RSVP's. Silva Horacio, the fashion director at T magazine had a Q and A with Mr. Haskins and talked about his photography, current work, joked about how current photographers were knocking off his work unsuccessfully, and where photography was going. It was interesting but unfortunately couldn't hear that well since his microphone was not working properly. YOu should check out this book or consider buying it for your collection. He IS the photographer's photographer.
