I am loving the way my hairstylist, Lissa Renn from the Hive, shaped my hair last week. I think I can say that I offically have long hair now. I chopped it a few years ago and it was alot of fun, but now, that its growing back, there is so much you can do with long hair!
Years ago, I would always put it up in a ponytail to get it out of my face. I am not going to do it this time around. I saw some some inspiration from a few blogs and it has inspired me to take advantage of everything you can do with long straight hair. Its easier to wear down if you have stylish bangs. Wear it down, wear it back, wear it with hats...but don't just throw it back in a pony tail.
I was listening to Melinda Lee on AM radio this morning and she was pushing the special going on at Sur la Table. She liked the fact that the auto-reversing reamer squeezes more juice from each piece of fruit, and the unique Final Spinal feature extracts more juice from pulp. No dripping either and dishwasher safe. I was looking for a juicer too, and these ones are so bright and modern in design...exactly what I need to get fresh lemon, Grapefruit, orange juice made at home. There is nothing like fresh juice right out of the juicer! Also, they are down from $60 to $30. Check it out by clicking on the title. This is a great emergency gift to get now for anyone.
I saw this on People Magazine today. I sort of LOVE that our first lady can rock a $34 dress by H&M. Michelle Obama wore a version with long sleeves and accessorized it with a colorful belt with mismatched shoes. I like her stylist.
I was at a birthday party this weekend shooting some photos for a friend, and she had hired Lara Hermanson to make an organic garden in her back yard to produce organic vegetables...I thought it was genius.
Lara's company, called FARMSCAPE, will come in and build, seed and even cultivate the produce weekly for you if you don't have the time or interest in doing it yourself. Its affordable, so you should check out their website. They will go to many different areas in the southern california area, so check out their website for more detailed information. If I had a large backyard, I would definitely consider hiring to consult to make your perfect garden.
I worked as photo editor for the last 14 years at various editorial magazines such as Vanity Fair, InStyle, GQ, Glamour,Bon Appetit and most recently Los Angeles Magazine.
I took a 6 month break after 911, and decided to get a culinary degree from the French Culinary Institute. After completing this program, I moved to LA for Bon Appetit Magazine to do redesign bringing a fresh new approach to food in a modern way. Three years later, I thought it was time to travel to some of the places we were writing about so I quit and did just that.
I got lucky when I got back, and got the job as the photo editor Los Angeles Magazine which I recently left to spend some time with my dad who was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. After 6 months of chemotherapy, and now being cancer free, I am going to spend the next year doing things that I love even if its not the smartest thing to do during a semi-recession. Life is short.
This blog. I hope you have fun reading some of the things I have featured and also, check out my photography website at sharonsuhphotography.com.
