BEAKER GLASSES

I have been looking at random glasses for the new apt. I liked the idea of beaker glasses, an idea from Heather F from the foodinista blog. I'm still looking for the right ones. Simon Pearce was $50 per glass. The most inexpensive and coolest one I thought was from CB2. They are the clear ones pictured above. They are around $4 per glass.
The darker ones are from Areaware for $40. Check the ones from CB2.com by clicking on the title above.

HARRY ALLEN END TABLE

These are two end tables I found on areaware.com. Harry Allen designed them and I just love the branches with the glass and the marble. Price...$325. Check it out by clicking on the title.

Dimensions: 20.5 x 23.75 x 15.75 inches

ROSS MENUEZ BABY ONESIE'S

My sister Shelley just had a baby, CYBELLE. I have been going a little nuts lately getting her fashionable attire to add to her collection. I am a kids photographer so I am constantly looking out for colorful, hip, classic items for baby CY.

I just got her some dark denim skinny jeans at H&M for $10. They were the cutest things you have ever seen and with it. Shelley told me that this style onesie's were the easiest for her baby to get in and out of. I like these ones cause they are Unisex, and still colorful. Best thing...they are 100% organic, silk-screened with environmentally friendly and child safe soy-based inks. They are on sale for under $20. Check it out by clicking on the title.

THE PERFECT WHITE DINNER PLATE

I am still looking for that perfect white dinner plate. I decided this time around that I was going to get well made dinnerware. I am going to skip Crate and Barrell and go for something a bit more classic. Still modern. I found these. My sister has the country heritage dinner plates from Villeroy and Boch and so I was thinking about getting these that have a bit more of a modern look. Check it out by clicking on the title. They are pretty reasonable on Amazon.com. A set of 6 is only $66.

ANTHROPOLOGIE UNDER $100

I was in the market for new wine glasses since I am sort over my riedel glasses from 4 years ago. I have been sort of inspired lately by Kelly Wearstler's 80's gothic style to redesign my Brooklyn pad. I was researching my favorite blogs but the ones that I want that the foodinista suggested by Simon Pearce are too expensive for my budget.(I break glasses frequently so that would be a bad investment). I figured I would get some regular water classes from Anthropologie to use for casual wine drinking. I was surprised to find a ton of things under $100.

My favorites things were the following:
They have commissioned two brands/artists which I really like to do a exclusive line. Very 80's water glasses by RUFFIAN (duo Brian Wolk and Cluade Morais who have about 20 items they designed for Anthropologie).$18 each. A book by the duo is also on sale with sketches of the last two seasons which might make some cool art work if matted correctly. Next were dessert plates by famous artist Trey Speegle, a limited collection. I like two of them. $12 each...moving onto a cool affordable doormat for $48. Next, Eco friendly cleaning products by Murchison-Hume (set of 6) was sort of cool for the apt at $78, and these fun gothic shot glasses that flip over as stands were cool if you like doing shots, $28...and the $10 vintage style 40 watt bulbs were a interesting shape and very delicate. Lastly, great slate coasters for $24 next to this over the top lamp shades for my new lamps that I got at a estate sale in East Hampton.

Check out these items by clicking the title and surf a bit. They have a ton of great items for sale. Oh...did I forget to mention the John Robshaw rugs that are on sale. Very cool.

MUST HAVE BOOTS

I saw a girl walking on Spring Street today...I think she was a model but never the less I saw her and I stopped her because I LOVED HER SHOES.
I figured they were either Gucci or Barneys or something high end, but when I she said..."VIA SPIGA", I thought, I might be able to afford these boots! There is store on Broome Street and B"way which I went to right afterward to try them on and see if they had them in stock. THEY WERE THE MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES I HAVE EVER WALKED IN. No joke. Its calf-skin as well so they look really expensive. They were affordable, $350...which is alot but for one pair of shoes but not if you look at them as an investment.
I am going to live in these boots this fall and winter. NOrstrom carries them but they are sold out the lady said but try the link above as Norstrom restocks every few weeks.

TO see or purchase them, click on the title above.

BARN DOOR HARDWARE

I just got back from a friend's home in Long Island. Dozie has this amazing home which has been featured in House Beautiful and my favorite thing about her home is these cool barn doors that she has. These are not the actual photos in her home but rather off this companies website. THe guest bedroom has this door for the bathroom and its just the coolest thing. Check it out if you are redesigning your home. Its unique and very rustic chic.

DOG BAR

I found this website while surfing for some things for my new dog (which I have not gotten but I will be soon). I am still looking on Petfinder and the North Shore league for the dog of my dreams. We just got the apt secured so starting to prepare!
I found these over the top items which some are a bit ridiculous, I had to post them. They are chic and cool...but a bit indulgent for a dog. Check them out by clicking on the title. Most items are reasonably priced, except the doggie couches which range from $300-$500 dollars. I particularly like the soft top travelling cage that is only $99 and the water and food bowl in wood that is about $30. There is a small potty box which has real grass which seems cool for for those small dogs that are not trained.

Jason B.

I have having dinner with an old friend tonight at PO restaurant in Brooklyn tonight. I worked with in the past at various magazines, but his current work is looking so good I wanted to share it with all of you. (Especially if you are commissioning photo work).
Jason Bell is based out of New York and London. He is a Vogue favorite, but he is the coolest, most down to earth smartass I know, and had great design sense. His dad is an architect, and his partner is a well-known photo agent. His best friends are Kate Winslet and other English A-list folks but he keeps it real, and is just a riot to hang out with. He is the biggest photo geek I know, and that is why I love him so much. We can talk shop for hours and be mean to each other and still laugh hysterically at our own expense.
Check out his work by clicking on the title above.

REDESIGN INSPIRATION

I am redesigning a new space. Lucas and I moved into a new apt in Brooklyn and its about 1100 square feet two bedrrom brownstone with large windows and hard wood floors. After the 3 year redesign project with my post century modern condo in West Hollywood which is being subletted right now, its sort of exciting to redesign a totally different space. I am not quite sure if we are going to stay contemporary or go a bit more organic, but we will see. ALL IDEAS for furniture, wallpaper and color pallete are welcome. Here are a few tearsheets I have been saving for inspiration.

Designwatcher and Foodinista...I hope you are reading this.

SAM HASKINS AT MILK

Photographer Sam Haskins and designer Tommy Hilfiger teamed up to publish a pretty cool photo book which is a restropective of five decades of his work. Its called Fashion Etcetera: The Tommy Hilfiger Special Edition. Sam Haskins might not be a common name to you, but in he was quite the rebel and risk taker back in the day. He inspired Tom Munro's and Arianne Philips Madonna photo shoot a few years ago, and has been knocked off so much in the last decade.

I bumped into a friend, Christian a few days ago who told me about an event at Milk Studios last night and we quickly RSVP's. Silva Horacio, the fashion director at T magazine had a Q and A with Mr. Haskins and talked about his photography, current work, joked about how current photographers were knocking off his work unsuccessfully, and where photography was going. It was interesting but unfortunately couldn't hear that well since his microphone was not working properly. YOu should check out this book or consider buying it for your collection. He IS the photographer's photographer.
