YONE X CHECKI CAMERA

Robert Festino, our new art director showed me his new camera, and its totally awesome. I am "stealing his thunder" and posting it for you to check out. Lizzie Garrett of Designwatcher.com also posted a great camera, from this website called lomo.com, a while back on her blog. The one that Robert got is a instamatic poloroid. Its fantastic. Immediate gratification. The camera is a bit pricey, $200, and the poloroid film is expensive, but in the world of digital cameras...its just downright cool. I hate all the extra work digital cameras take...its nice to have immediate prints.Click the title above to see all the details.

HAAGEN DAZS

I work at Bon Appetit Magazine and I was in the test kitchen with a few of the staff food editors just bitching about a tough week. As we were talking, Sarah Tenaglia brought out a carton of this ice cream and told me that I had to try it. Since I just went off Jenny Craig, I was thinking...hell yah!
This ice cream was the best thing that I have ever tasted in my life. If you want to be everyone's best friend at a dinner party, screw the wine...bring a few cartons of this FLEUR DE SEL CARMEL ice cream by HAAGEN DAZS.
If you click the title, it will take you to their website.

WOOD SERVING TRAYS BY JOEL

I love these. I bought these for myself because someone said something to me today that I didn't like which pissed me off, so I decided to buy this to make myself feel better. Retail therapy at its best. I would go to shop-o-holics meetings, but this was only $36 and with that tax refund, its a great a find. I like the CHERRY one best. $36!!! I saw these at OK on 3rd street and they cost more. Purchase by clicking on the title above.

LUCAS ZAREBINSKI

I like original art. I am not into posters of naked bodies or movie posters.
I try and find artists at schools, small galleries or on website to add to my collection. I have been interested in illustration lately so if you know of anyone, email me.
My boyfriend, Lucas is a talented photographer. He currently has some work in OUTSIDE and next week, LOS ANGELES TIMES MAGAZINE...a 10 page portfolio.
He did a series on TREES that is quite breathtaking. He sells images to private clients. These are a few of my favorites, and they are reasonably priced. (11x14 unframed prints are $550 if you mention my name...Sharon)...otherwise, they go for $1500 per print through a gallery. You can contact him by clicking on the title above.
He is out of town on a fun road trip to Mexico but should be back in a week.
Check out his work!

RICCARDO MARZI

I just got my tax return a few weeks ago so I have become a retail slut. I decided this year to be a slut and not do anything smart with my money. I am just going to spend and make myself feel better about the state of our country by purchasing things I don't need.
I love this River Stone Bowl by Riccardo Marzi. Its a little high maintenence...hand wash only, and not for the microwave, but it sort o goes with my wanting to be more environmentally conscious and eat healthier. I can't use the dishwasher or nuke it.
Its reasonable prices too...$155 at the Moma store online. Purchase it by clicking on the title above.

CANDLES

I am a candle snob.
I like minimal packaging, subtle scents, and I like white.... and those kind of candles usually cost about $35-$50 a pop at Fred Segal or Barneys. Well folks, if you are like me, on a budget, check out the new candles at OLD NAVY. I know what you are thinking...but seriously. GO.

You CANNOT get them online...I checked. Go to the store right now, and they have these fantastic $12.50 candles, clear glass, great delicate shape, and some terrific scents.
I purchased the sparkling green tea, and a few of the ruby guava, but there are about 7 different ones to choose from. There was another one I should have gotten...grass...it was pretty nice. As I said, they are not online, so no picture of them, but check them out for yourselves. I got 10 of them...there going to go fast.

SUBVERSIVE JEWELRY AT TARGET

I went to Target today to get Walt Disney video for my niece. I stumbled upon the jewelry counter featuring the inexpensive line that Subversive did this season. Justin Giunta, a former industrial designer, is the mastermind behind Subversive jewelry. (http://www.subversivejewelry.com).

I love this necklace which was only $49.99...its going to look great during the summer with a tank top. A former co-worker of mine, Lizzie of Design Watcher.com, had an delicate layered necklace, and I was in awe of it...I really wanted one but it was too expensive. Check it out by clicking on the title.

This is a great find. It comes in gold and silver. $34. Click on the title to purchase.

EVA ZEISEL

Recently, I have trying to be more enviromentally conscious and also cut out anything artificial. That means riding my bike more often to do my errands, cutting out diet coke's and splenda, and my favorite thing in the world...doritos. I know, people think I am gross. When I saw this sugar and creme set, it was a great excuse to buy these pieces designed by Eva Zeisel. Real sugar and real milk. Its $105, and you can purchase it by clicking on the title.

PARK RESTAURANT IN LOS ANGLELES

The Park restaurant is in Echo Park at the old El Autentico location (Sunset and Douglas).

You can bring your own wine which is always a plus if your out with foodies. The only thing the blog said was that the decor was in need of a lift.

SHOW

Lucas, my boyfriend lives on the east side, so we hang out quite a bit in Los Feliz, Echo Park and Eagle Rock. There are a ton of amazing new restaurants, hip boutique shops a great music scene that sort of reminds me of what the east village was in the late 90's.
Show, a modern lifestyle store located in Los Feliz, features a stylish array of international design...furniture, housewares, accessories, wallpaper, jewelry and books.
Take a look at the items they have by clicking the title.

HELLA JONGERIUS

I was introduced to Hella Jongerius when I was doing a freelance gig at Newsweek on their big Design issue back in 2005. I ended up meeting this dutch designer at Moss in New York. We shot her at Moss and it was her unbelieveable vases and maharam pillows that we were featuring. Now, she has this very cool line of porcelain dinnerware manufactured by Royal Tichelaar Makkum. Each piece is stamped with the glaze type and designer's mark which makes each piece one of a kind.

The Dinner Service set includes: two small bowls, two small plates, two large plates and two large cups. Its not cheap...$550 for the set. Take a look by clicking onto the title.

MARCEL WANDERS

I got this Marcel Wanders water Carafe as a Christmas present from a photographer, and I love absolutely it. Its a great gift and affordable...$55. Check it out by clicking onto the title.

KOEHLER WINE

Since I work at a food and entertaining magazine, we send out alot of wine to photographer's or contributors to thank them for doing a good job. Just recently, my guy Max at Wally's wine suggested this one. Its a nice SYRAH from Koehler...a Santa Inez Valley wine estate. Its delicious and it will not fail you. The reasonable price for a nice solid red, $32 will would be a nice treat for a dinner party or to just sip with some friends and treat yourself. YOu can purchase it by clicking onto the title or going to Wally's Wines in Los Angeles.

LOEFFLER RANDALL

My friend Kat Odell (her food/entertaining blog is Corkandrind.blogspot.com) told me about this designer, Loeffler Randall, who is a fabulous handbag and shoe designer who was just commissioned by Target this season to do a cheap line of shoes and bags. $20. You can't beat it. Check out the items by clicking onto the title.

Check out Kat's blog...its great. CORKANDRIND.BLOGSPOT.COM.

URAWAZA

This is a collection of random things that Tokyo-born journalist Lisa Katayama put together. This book humorously collects more than 100 secret random tricks illustrated by Joel Holland. Example...Want to turbo slide your sled or snowboard...spray it wilt non-stick cooking spray like Pam. If you are going away for a week, place your plants into oversoaked wet diapers, so it slowly absorbs water over time. These are things my grandmother would would know...its hysterical. Click on the title to purchase.

WHITE

Since I am a photo editor at a food/entertaining magazine, props for made up dinner table sets are part of my life. I also love to surf the web and always finding amazing designers that do beautiful patterns. Its endless the designs out there. I decided that I am going to stop the madness and just stick to white.
I am overwhelmed by the choices, patterns and colors available. I am simply going white for a while.
Here is a set that Martha Stewart has at KMART, to tie me over for my current whim until I get sick of white. They are very inexpensive...and on sale at this time. Check them out by clicking on the title.

RED SUEDE SHOES

Dinnerware may be white, but for clothing...I have been going through a phase where I really like red. I found these vibrant red SUEDE Chuck Taylor's for $199. I know...I know...been there done that, but the slip on's are so easy for lazy people like me who can't deal with laces.
Check them out by clicking on the title above.

BUTTON RING

I was surfing the web last night, and I found this $10 vintage daisy cabochon attached to a vintage button. I like the green one shown above but it comes in red too.

CB2

I am in the middle of a bedroom redesign. I have been looking for interesting side tables that are low and have a nice classic design element. If you are on a budget, take a look at these by clicking on the title above. There are two at CB2.com, Crate and Barrell's lower price point line. The two shown above are only $199. I noticed that Domino was featuring alot of their items, so I found myself wandering onto the website quite a bit lately... a few delicate wine glasses and water goblets they have can easily be mistaken for items at Moss. Check them out!
